Arsenal fans spot ‘subliminal Wenger Out message’ as Swiss speed skater competes at the 2018 Winter Games

Arsenal fans noticed something humorous as a Swiss competitor took part in the 1500m men’s speed skating at the Winter Olympics on Tuesday.

The man named Livio Wenger caught the eye for a pretty obvious reason – he shares his surname with the club’s long-term manager, Arsene.

And as many know, the Frenchman isn’t on great terms with fans of the north London club. In fact, he hasn’t been for a little while.

Last season Gunners supporters did everything they could to try and convince him not to sign a new contract/the club not to give him a new contract.

As a result, the Wenger Out brigade was born, which for the most part involved fans flying planes over various football grounds in the UK baring the two menacing words.

Banners were then seen popping up absolutely everywhere – sports grounds around the world, and not just football stadiums.

After Wenger put pen to paper on a new two-year deal at Arsenal, the brigade disappeared a bit, and all the excitement – for want of a better word – died down.

But Gunners supporters are convinced there are still some fans working under the cover of darkness, and spotted proof of this at the Winter Olympics when Livio Wenger failed to take the world by storm…
